For Frenchmen Vladimir Kolesnik – the known representative of modern Ukrainian art not only on Autumn salons, but also at such prestigious exhibitions, as XIII Salon International du Vald’or. V.Kolesnik is awarded by a medal for the best work among foreign artists, noted by an honourable prize for the best work at an exhibition XX Salon International des Arts.
In 1999 the artist became member Societe Nationale des Beaux Arts. Same year committee Merite et Devoument Francais has awarded V.Kolesnika «the Silver cross» – for the outstanding contribution to art.
Колесник does not love pathos. To it it is ridiculous, when someone from colleagues declares that dreams to subdue Paris.
– Yes than! It is impossible! – Vladimir speaks. – there so much all fine.
Vladimir Kolesnik in Kiev in a family of the known painter was born and has grown. Has ended republican art school, and at art institute has chosen not picturesque branch, and – restoration. Black boards of icons, old cloths, alchemy past revival have captivated him. V.Kolesnik restored painting by Kievo-Pecherskoj of Monastery, Vasily Blazhennogo’s temple in Moscow, returned huge ancient icons of the Perejaslav-Khmelnitskiy museum from a non-existence.
And then – the universal creative author’s beginning has opened, has grasped painting – figurative, abstract, traditional, vanguard.
After search of colour accords before Alain Karona’s refined jazz improvisations (a cloth «The Music Inside») – is suddenly written absolutely realistic still-life where the parties of a clay jug are gilt, flickers glass of large bottles.
When Vladimir works over a landscape selects a letter manner to each concrete natural motive, never driving violently a reality in in advance certain reception. Here also it turns out at it such different pictures: in one the live silhouette of trees, in others reflexions in a river smooth surface of snow-white clouds in a heavenly azure is felt. Idyll of the Poltava landscapes, is really fine, as if in them time in blissful languor of a sunny day has stopped.
Landscapes of Kiev – semiabstract where domes of temples grow among an expression of colour stains. Their forms – изменчивы, преходящи, многомерны. But also similar works are marvellously exact in perception of an image of a city. Vladimir Kolesnik in pictorial works transfers the world which he feels and knows as continuation of, the corporality, the spirituality.
From height of its workshop the surprising landscape opens: a botanical garden, днепровские distances, the Vydubetsky monastery. There, in this natural palette Vladimir takes the colours – and its pictures amaze with an internal luminescence of paints. Probably, the love and profound knowledge of a universe allow the artist to be free.
From restoration of initial icons Vladimir has gradually passed to a writing in a conditional manner of picturesque compositions to religious plots. But also in them there was a sensation of merge to ancient culture.
The artist travels much, co-operating with galleries of Nuremberg, Munich, London, Paris, Athenes. Beholding its enchanting semiabstract still-lifes, first of all for some reason you remember Paris. Probably because in them that spirit of freedom, Liberte which gives this city is notable. The artist is able to keep it and in Kiev. Thanks to sense of humour Vladimir perfectly transforms daily occurrence.
